WHAT IS THE SOUNDBAR?
The SOUNDBAR wants to be your new living room and creative hangout in downtown OKC, with a luxurious sound system that’s pure ear candy, and music to recharge your emotions and imagination — in a space equally comfortable for a little alone-time or a “besties” outing. With music at the center of The SOUNDBAR experience, you may hear your favorite artists and recordings in new ways, while discovering unfamiliar artists and recordings through our uniquely curated listening experiences and the nearly 10,000 recordings and virtually infinite streaming options at your disposal while our guest.
ABOUT VINYL BARS
In 1950s Japan, small coffee houses and cozy bars emerged as go-to destinations for a growing community of Jazz fans and music enthusiasts, allowing access to hi-fi sound systems and jazz and country recordings left behind by departing GI’s that were otherwise inaccessible in the immediate post-war era due to their expensive nature and tight living conditions among urban apartment dwellers.
Fast forward 75 years, the concept of vinyl bars and listening lounges (called “Kissa” in Japanese) is now reaching major creative cities, including our unique interpretation of the Kissa at The SOUNDBAR in Oklahoma City.
