BEN BAGLEY'S BROADWAY

The Original Juke Box Hero

Although you may never have heard of him, Bagley more or less invented the Juke Box Musical with productions of Cole Porter’s (not so famous) songs in the 50’s and 60’s. When box office financing (and success) eluded him, he turned to making records instead, creating over 40 fascinating studio recordings of great American Songbook composers (among them Porter, Gershwin, Sheldon Harnick, Jerome Kern and Alan Lerner) with performances by noted musical stage, and jazz stars Kay Ballard, Chita Rivera, Lynne Redgrave, Blossom Dearie, Bobby Short, Barbara Cook, Elaine Stritch and even Katherine Hepburn and Anthony Perkins.

We have an extraordinary collection of these rare recordings, and if they sound like something you’ve never heard before, it’s because they are –
BUT THEY ARE GREAT GEMS ONE AND ALL! Let’s pretend its cabaret night in OKC, and please join us for a Martini (or two).

COUNTRY COMFORT

New (re)releases from Graham Parsons and Roseanne Cash have us thinking about the early days of country crossover, and some fresh new artists reinvigorating Country 50 years later. Parsons, Emmy Lou Harris, Cash (and some great late tunes from her dad Johnny) plus the Byrds, Flying Burritos and others, plus the new(er) comers Charles Wesley Godwin, Megan Maroney, SG Goodman, War & Treaty, Kacey Musgraves, and Mae Estes again reinventing country for a new generation of crossover listeners.
