Pop Music Historians say it all started with the release of the Ramones first album 50 years ago.  Bands like the Jam, Sex Pistols, Clash, The Stranglers, Pere UBU. Patti Smith, MC5 and the Stooges followed the charge (into the mosh pit, as it were), and on the “Art / Punk” fringes Devo, Blondie and the NY Dolls, along with protopunk precursors The Velvet Underground raved it up for a decade counterbalancing the concurrent pendulum swing to Disco.   Let’s hear it for garage rock taken to the extreme.  PUNK ATTIRE WELCOME, BUT OPTIONAL!
