Fourth Thursday’s we get Funky with electronic funk from across the decades curated by Michael B, host of KGOU’s Tonic: The Funky Groove Show (Friday nights 9-11 on KGOU). Tonight Michael’s out on the town with other commitments, so we’re going to showcase two of his (and olur) favorite recent Tonic broadcasts. Meanwhile, congrats to Michael for his cover art on the terrific new Redtenbacher Funkestra The Colours of Joni (Mitchell) Tribute Album!

BLACK WOMEN TAKE NASHVILLE
African American influence on blues and folk music has come full circle with a new wave of Black Creatrive Artists topping the country charts, with Women leading the charge! Tonight we celebrate music by a broad range of country crossover artists including Beyonce, Rissi Palmer, Mickey Guyton, Adia Victoria, Joy Oludokun, Amythyst Kiah, Brittney Spencer, Kyshona, Shemeika Copeland, Madeline Edwards, Reyna Roberts, Yola, Julie Williams and more. We’ll cue up an evening playlist and you can pick some new favorites. All cowgirls and cowboys welcomed. Cowboy boots, hats and rhinestones optional.

One of our (and our loudspeakers’) favorites. This young Brit is a multitalented and Grammy winning composer/arranger. instrumentalist/vocalist/producer. Original compositions and covers that take familiar material into the stratosphere. Featured collaborators include John Legend, Coldplay, Jules Buckley & Metropol Orkestra, Shawn Mendes, Lianne La Havas, Sam Amidon, T Pain, Brandi Carlisle and more. A night of luxuriant sound!
